My answer to How would you compare the ISRO feat of launching 104 satellites in space from a single launch vehicle?
Answer by Vishu Menon:
Imagine a lowly paid young nurse on morning duty in a common hospital ward. She has 104 different prescriptions in her left hand, 104 syringes, filled with a different drip for each prescription. 104 patients lie in a row on their stomachs, waiting for the morning poke. She runs along the aisle, pulls down a pajama, looks at the prescription for bed 1, and pokes the syringe No.1. On to the next, pulls down the pajama, poke syringe No.2, and then Next.. and so on till bed No. 104 purrs softly to show that his drip has gone in. Job done in 18 minutes flat.
That is what Indian Space Research Organization’s PSLV-C37 / Cartosat -2 Series Satellite did in the morning of on Februay 15, 2017.
The 104 space slots were for different nations (96 of them Americans, three Indians and the remaining 5 from other countries.
All went well. Patients are live and kicking. Applause.
Congratulations, ISRO scientists and engineers, data entry operators and data monitors, accountants and clerks, logistics managers and peons, contractors and couriers, spouses and children who waited while they were working overtime, and all those who are missed out in this list.
Your feat is hard to beat.
Sad, politicians will hog all the credit, praise Modi for having done little, and give themselves a pay-raise.
