When man steered from hunting to farming and domesticating animals, he had some time to brood, when not clubbing the women of his harem. That led to two kinds of brooders – the one who kept wondering, asking, probing around to find answer to the mysteries around him and the other, who said he had found the answer, that is God, and there should be no further search.
The searchers begat philosophers like Socrates and Charvaka, inventers like Edison and Graham Bell and empirical scientists like Einstein and Stephen Hawking. The finders begat Adam and Moses, Arch Bishops, Popes, Prophets, Pundits and priests.
Fiction is more palatable than hard facts: so most of the world prefers religion. I am not suggesting that the possibility of the presence of an energy source that intelligently and wih mathematical precision directed our evolution should be ruled out. If that power is to be discovered, science will still have to go a long way beyond the whimsically named god-particle.
Yes, God of religion – any religion – is a non-existent corporate businesshead who thrives on superstition.
